Modular training Multi Engine (ME)
For holders of a PPL(A) or CPL(A) with a SE (Single-Engine) rating and experience of at least 70 hours PIC (Pilot In Command), BAFA offers a JAR-accredited course for multi-engine aircraft MEP (Multi Engine) rating.
This course comprising both a theoretical and a practical module and prepares candidates for the tests to obtain an MEP rating.
This course consists of a visual flight rules (VFR) module, and for holders of an IR an instrument flight rules (IFR) module.
The MEP theory course comprises 8 course hours, supplemented by a number of CBT (Computer Based Training) hours, depending on the individual requirements of the trainee. This covers the knowledge required to efficiently undertake practical training.
The course is held in our classrooms at Antwerp Airport.
The practical training is at least 6 hours for the VFR part and at least 5 hours for extra IFR training for holders of a SE/IFR rating. For the IFR part, an FNPT II flight simulator is used outside the aircraft, a Piper Seminole PA44-180.
The duration of this practical training can be adjusted to match the requirements of each trainee.
Target group
holders of a Private Pilot License (PPL) or Commercial Pilot License (CPL) with a rating for Single-Engine aircraft (SE) who wish to acquire a Multi-Engine aircraft (ME) rating.
Course start
throughout the whole year. Start dates can be obtained from the BAFA secretariat.
Admission requirements
must be in possession of a Private Pilot License (PPL) or Commercial Pilot License (CPL) with a minimum flying experience of 70 hours as captain. Candidates wishing to acquire an instrument rating for multi-engine aircraft must be in possession of an IR rating for single-engine aircraft.

Course Price
The cost of the course as described above is €6.910, including VAT. Included in this amount are: all theoretical and practical lessons, all briefings and all of the required study materials, such as textbooks, TMs (Training Manuals) and AOMs (Aircraft Operation Manuals). Not included are: Compensation for the theory and the practical examinations, examination flight and landings, approach and passenger taxes. The price stated above has been established based on the strict condition of a maximum average fuel price of €1,90 per litre, excluding VAT. If the actual fuel price exceeds this amount, a fuel surcharge will be billed separately.
