Commercial Pilot

BAFA offers modular Commercial Pilot (CPL) practical training that meets the requirements of the JAR-FCL regulations.

The course covers practical training and prepares the student for the practical tests to obtain a Commercial Pilot License (CPL).
The practical training will be at least 25 flying hours, 5 hours of which on complex aircraft. For holders of a valid IFR qualification, the number of flying hours can be reduced by 10 hours.

Target group

holders of a Private Pilot License (PPL) with a minimum of flying experience who have passed the ATPL theory examination.

Course start

throughout the whole year. Start dates can be obtained from the BAFA secretariat.

Admission requirements

minimum age of 18 years, in possession of a Private Pilot license (PPL) with minimum flying experience of 150 hours. Must have passed the ATPL theory examination. Before being definitively admitted to the training, must be in possession of a class 1 medical examination certificate.

Duration of the training

depending on the availability of the candidate.
Note: it should be taken into account that the training must be completed within 36 months of passing the ATPL theory examination. For the issuing of the CPL candidates must have the following flying experience:

  • Total flying experience of min. 200 hours.
  • Flying experience of min. 100 hours as captain.
  • Minimum of 20 hours of overland flights, with at least one over a distance of at least 300 NM (540 km).
  • 5 hours of night flying.

Course Price

The cost of the course as described above is €5.255, including VAT (€8.060 when you are not in the posession of an Instrument Rating). Included in this amount are: all theoretical and practical lessons, all briefings and all of the required study materials, such as textbooks, TMs (Training Manuals) and AOMs (Aircraft Operation Manuals). Not included are: Compensation for the theory and the practical examinations, examination flight and landings, approach and passenger taxes. The price stated above has been established based on the strict condition of a maximum average fuel price of €1,90 per litre, excluding VAT. If the actual fuel price exceeds this amount, a fuel surcharge will be billed separately.
