Modular ATPL theory
This modular theory training course ATPL (A) (Airline Transport Pilot) is intended for candidates who already have some flying experience (at least Private Pilot PPL). This training forms the basis for taking additional practical modules to obtain the necessary qualifications to be able to start employment as a “First Officer” (Co-pilot) in commercial aviation. The course comprises a minimum of 750 theory course hours, covering the following subjects:

This training can be followed as daytime education, evening education or by distance learning.
Depending on the type of training chosen, the theory training is spread over either one or one and a half years.
Candidates taking the course in the form of distance learning are expected to spend approximately 750 hours on self-tuition, and attend 75 hours of refresher courses at BAFA.
The theory training ends with examinations organized by the Aviation Directorate-General. The minimum score required to pass is 75%.
